Praying Clear Through
$16.99Add to cartMost believers do not rise to their full privilege in prayer. Successful prayer cannot be rushed. If we want to hear from heaven, we must allow time for God’s voice to successfully break through the din of life. When we have a tremendous amount of work to be done for the day, we dare not leave out prayer. As Martin Luther observed, “I have so much to do that I shall spend the first three hours in prayer.” The real danger in not taking sufficient time to commune with God and implore him for our requests is the resulting slow erosion of the Spirit’s voice, when life’s static distracts a Believer from what is truly important and necessary to a successful life.
In Praying Clear Through, Will Harney demonstrates by examples from his own life that there are vast rewards in store for those who make prayer a top priority. Prayer should not be a chore for the growing Christian but one of the highest privileges accorded us. The author decries the fast pace of his age for crowding out the time of prayer–a century ago. He urges the believer to “pray clear through”– that is, to pray with urgency until he or she hears from heaven.
This book has thirty-three short chapters (5-6 pages each) that bounce from prayer topic to prayer topic–including obedience, the prayer closet, not looking but trusting, and how prayer is the secret to revival. The final chapter is a short guide on how to use prayer to obtain great victories. Contains modern Introduction by Nick Harrison.

Our Fathers House
$14.99Add to cartMost people visit a church for the first time either by invitation or reputation. Many books have been written on the subject of personal evangelism and the importance of being a bringer. This book however, explores the power of reputation specifically, God’s reputation as upheld and reflected in a church’s culture. Based on the story of the Queen of Sheba’s visit to King Solomon and how her initial encounter with his kingdom left her breathless and astounded, this book explores the profound effect a church’s culture can have on the heart of a seeker as they pursue rumors of King Jesus and His Kingdom. It warns that Kingdom-culture doesn’t happen by chance, but only as every member of the King’s household lays down their own comfortable and familiar culture to surrender instead to the common culture of Heaven. This book has been written to inspire every Christian to vigilantly uphold Heaven’s culture when living, loving and serving in the Father’s House their local church. It implores us all not to waste another minute in engaging our God-given gifts and talents to create Heaven on Earth so that the Kingdom of God might be revealed in all of its glory to a world that is in desperate need of its wisdom, power and atmosphere. Only then, having tasted Heaven, will lost people truly desire to seek out this Kingdom s magnificent King!

Anchors For The Soul
$17.99Add to cartANCHOR YOUR FAITH IN THE STORY OF GOD BEFORE-AND DURING-THE STORMS
Drawing on his own experience with losses and tragedies through the death of his young wife and, more recently, the death of his sixteen-year-old son, John Mark Hicks tells the story of God through his own experiences of suffering.
He does not explain suffering because, as he describes, that cannot be done; rather, he walks with sufferers through the valley of loss. He grounds them deeply in the story of God’s love, listening, empathy, sovereignty, and victory. This path is not only for those who seek to persevere in the midst of their suffering but also for those who want to prepare for the suffering that comes to all.
In addition to helping sufferers, John Mark provides guidance for those who want to sit with people who are suffering. He offers advice to help comforters provide comfort. There are no easy answers. Our questions, in fact, are never fully answered. Despite this, however, there is a path of assurance, comfort, and trust that yields perseverance, peace, and hope.
The “anchors” are found in God, who:
*loves us
*listens to us
*empathizes with us
*gives meaning to our suffering
*ultimately triumphs over all sufferingThese anchors ground us in God’s redemptive story.

Lords Prayer : A Guide To Praying To Our Father
$18.99Add to cartYou pray it. But do you understand it?
The Lord’s Prayer has become so familiar to us that we don’t think about what we’re praying. It’s a portrait of Jesus’ heart. And in it Christians from different times, places, and traditions have been united. We pray it, but do we actually believe it?
When Jesus taught his followers how to pray, he emphasized how uncomplicated it should be. There’s no need for pretense or theatrics. Instead, simply ask for what you need as though you were speaking with your earthly father. This opens a window into Jesus’ prayer life and presents us with a portrait of his heart for his followers.
Wesley Hill re-introduces the Lord’s Prayer. He shows us a God who is delighted to hear prayer. Petition by petition, in conversation with the Christian tradition, he draws out the significance of Jesus’ words for prayer today.

10 Commandments Of Progressive Christianity
$7.99Add to cartA cautionary look at ten dangerously appealing half-truths.
In 1923, J. Gresham Machen, then a professor at Princeton Seminary, wrote his classic text, Christianity and Liberalism. The book was a response to the rise of liberalism in the mainline denominations of his own day. Machen argued that the liberal understanding of Christianity was, in fact, not just a variant version of the faith, nor did it represent simply a different denominational perspective, but was an entirely different religion. Put simply, liberal Christianity is not Christianity.
What is remarkable about Machen’s book is how prescient it was. His description of liberal Christianity–a moralistic, therapeutic version of the faith that values questions over answers and being “good” over being “right”–is still around today in basically the same form. For this reason alone the book should be required reading, certainly for all seminary students, pastors, and Christian leaders.
Although its modern advocates present liberal Christianity as something new and revolutionary, it is nothing of the sort. It may have new names (e.g., “emerging” or “progressive” Christianity), but it is simply a rehash of the same well-worn system that has been around for generations.
The abiding presence of liberal Christianity struck me not long ago when I came across a daily devotional from Richard Rohr that listed ten principles he thinks modern Christianity needs to embody. These ten principles are actually drawn from Philip Gulley’s book, If the Church Were Christian: Rediscovering the Values of Jesus. In that devotional series, ironically titled “Returning to Essentials,” Rohr sets forth the ten principles as a kind of confessional statement of modern liberalism (while at the same time pretending to deplore confessional statements). They are, in effect, a Ten Commandments for progressive Christianity.
Indeed, these ten sound like they were gathered not so much on the mountaintop as in the university classroom. They are less about God revealing his desires and more about man expressing his own–less Moses, more Oprah.
But take note: each of these commandments is partially true. Indeed, that is what makes this list, and progressive Christianity as a whole, so challenging. It is a master class in half-truths that sound appealing on the surface until you dig down deeper and really explore their foundations and implications. Benjamin Franklin was right when he quipped, “Half the truth is often a

Rest For The Justice Seeking Soul
$16.99Add to cartSusan K. Williams Smith is a minister and activist who has been on the front lines of social and racial justice for many years. As she has marched shoulder-to-shoulder to resist systematic oppression, she has heard the same question over and over: “How are we going to get through this?” Rest for the Justice-Seeking Soul was birthed out of those cries.
Here is a soul-care manual for social justice-seeking believers who stand in constant vigilance against all forms of racial, class, and gender oppression. The fight for justice and equality is an exhausting daily grind–and the work is never over. That’s why it is incumbent upon all who speak and advocate for the less fortunate to practice self-care. You can’t fight when your tank is empty.
In response to the many calls and emails she has received from friends, clergy, and strangers who are in utter despair and even deep depression, she has created ninety daily devotions to provide a daily spoonful of hope and encouragement, a healing balm to “strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees” (Hebrews 12:12). Lift your gaze upward toward a better future by allowing God to restore harmony and focus in your soul and justice in your community. Our God is bigger than whoever is oppressing you. As the old hymn states, “Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.”

Way Of Life Updated Edition
$16.99Add to cartWhen the Christian church was born on the Day of Pentecost, it was launched through the demonstration of signs, wonders, and miracles. The gospel of the Kingdom of God was never meant to simply be spoken through words; it was intended to be both declared and demonstrated. Naturally, the question is: Why doesn’t much of modern Christianity experience the miraculous power of God like the early church? This is not a new question. In fact, it has been asked by spiritually hungry men and women through the ages.
Many have attempted to answer this question. Unfortunately, many of the answers have caused spiritual seekers to stop short of their divine destiny because they were taught that the “age of miracles” ended with the closing of the Scriptural canon.
But while Scripture is no longer being written, the Gospel must continue to be supernaturally demonstrated through the lives and actions of every believer…including you!
Get ready to discover The Way of Life. Jesus modeled it. The early church demonstrated it. And now, the invitation is being extended to you. Learn how you can move in the signs, wonders, and supernatural power that the Bible says are available!

Anxious For Nothing
$19.99Add to cartAnxiety is at an all time high, but there’s a prescription for dealing with it. Max Lucado invites readers into a study of Philippians 4:6-7 where the Apostle Paul admonishes the followers of Christ, “Do not be anxious about anything . . .”
Philippians 4:6 encourages the believer to “be anxious for nothing.” As Lucado states, the apostle Paul seems to leave little leeway here. “Be anxious for nothing. Nada. Zilch. Zero.”
What’s he suggesting? That we should literally be anxious for absolutely nothing? Lucado says, “The presence of anxiety is unavoidable, but the prison of anxiety is optional. It’s the life of perpetual anxiety that Paul wants to address. Don’t let anything in life leave you perpetually in angst.”
Americans especially know about living in perpetual anxiety. According to one research program, anxiety-related issues are the number one mental health problem among women and are second only to alcohol and drug abuse among men. Stress-related ailments cost the nation $300 billion every year in medical bills and lost productivity. And use of sedative drugs like Xanax and Valium have skyrocketed in the last 15 years. Even students are feeling it. One psychologist reports that the average high school kid today has the same level of anxiety as the average psychiatric patient in the early 1950s.
“The news about our anxiety is enough to make us anxious,” says Lucado. But there’s a prescription for dealing with it. Lucado invites readers into a study of Philippians 4:6-7, the most highlighted passage of any book on the planet, according to Amazon:
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
“With His help you will learn to face the calamities of life. You’ll learn how to talk yourself off the ledge. Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, you will learn to view bad news through the lens of sovereignty; to discern the lies of Satan and tell yourself the truth. You will manifest a gentleness that is evident to others. Anxiety comes with life. But it doesn’t have to dominate your life.”

Is Jesus History
$16.99Add to cartWhat can we really know for sure about the past? Can anything from ancient history be regarded as ‘fact’? In particular, how seriously can we take the historical sources for the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth? Did he really even live in first-century Galilee and Judaea, or is he a figure of legend?
In this timely book, historian Dr John Dickson unpacks how the field of history works, giving readers the tools to evaluate for themselves what we can confidently say about figures like the Emperor Tiberius, Alexander the Great, Pontius Pilate, and, of course, Jesus of Nazareth.
He presents the evidence, methods, and conclusions of mainstream scholars–both Christian and not–and asks some pertinent contemporary questions, without offering any pushy answers: If Jesus really did exist, what are we to make of his own claims and those of his followers, and what would any of it mean for us today?

Many Christians think of miracles as rare events for a select and fortunate few. But miracles don’t have be something mysterious and out of reach. They don’t have to be the exception. Just as they were common in the early church, they can become common for you.
The School of the Miraculous A Practical Guide to Walking in Daily Miracles by Dr. Kynan Bridges shows how every believer can develop a miracle mind-set, operate in miracles, and establish a life routine in which miraculous events occur.
Dr. Kynan has encountered many believers who are frustrated because they are not seeing evidence of God’s power in their circumstances. They have a growing desperation for more of His intervention in their lives. This book was designed to answer that cry for more.
The Holy Spirit is the Miracle Worker–but all miracles involve human participation in some way. Dr. Kynan reveals that our growing intimacy with God’s Spirit will lead us to see and participate in His miracles–living in His power and setting our expectations increasingly higher for His miraculous works in our lives.
This practical guide for every believer is filled with ideas for personal application, encouraging testimonies, and spiritual activation prayers for tapping into the miraculous. Enroll in The School of the Miraculous today!

Courage To Be Healed
$21.99Add to cartFrom New York Times best-selling author…
The altered life begins at the altar. But it doesn’t end there.
Here is a simple truth: hurt people hurt people. The damaged do damage to others and to themselves. They become toxic, and their toxicity spills over into the lives of those around them, leaving a trail of broken relationships, squandered opportunities, and shattered dreams. Hurting souls can and often do become suicidal and self-destructive.
This is not a “quick fix” book, but one that illumines the need for, and very real hope for, inner healing. Delve into stories of people finding healing, and understand each stage of the process, including the following:
*Honestly confronting the past
*Facing and accepting painful realities
*Forgiving ourselves as well as the “unforgivable” deeds of others
*Dealing with disappointment and forgiving God for unmet expectations, unanswered prayers, and unfulfilled dreams
*Stories of people seeking and finding healingMany go to church or preach in a church every Sunday while living lives of unuttered, soul-deadening despair. Part of the reason they never get help is a prevailing religiosity that presupposes that sin and repentance are the cause of and the answer to all the soul’s distress. While salvation or the baptism of the Spirit are the first steps to healing hurt souls, these experiences may not do all that needs to be done. The altered life may well begin at an altar, but it may need to continue in a counseling office.
Dr. Mark Rutland’s Courage to Be Heal is a doorway of hope for hurting souls and for those who love them.
This book will give you inner healing through Spirit-led counseling, prayer, Bible reading, and the power of God’s grace.

Crutch Of Success
$16.99Add to cartBorn in Korea in 1956 soon after the end of the Korean War, Steve Stirling was stricken with polio at age one when his father unknowingly brought the virus home after consoling a friend whose child had contracted the disease. Steve survived; the son of his father’s friend did not. Marital and financial struggles caused Steve’s father to leave him at an orphanage when he was five. Three weeks later, his three-year-old sister was left there as well.
After four years, they were adopted by an American couple, Jim and Lynn Stirling, who settled in Anchorage, Alaska. The Stirlings now had seven children, all but one of whom was adopted.
Steve’s legs were paralyzed but his mind was sharp. He excelled in school, earned degrees at Cornell and Northwestern universities, and married. He and his wife, Sook Hee, moved from city to city as Steve moved up the corporate ladder with several Fortune 500 companies. They had two children and plenty of money, but their marriage was not happy.
Then they came to a saving faith in Jesus and their lives changed forever. They traveled to Korea and miraculously located Steve’s birth family. On a subsequent trip to visit the orphanage where he had grown up, Steve encountered a fellow handicapped orphan who had also become a Christian and his words caused Steve to rethink his life direction. He decided to shift his executive career away from the corporate world in order to devote his energies to nonprofit charities, working for World Vision and several others. Now he is the executive director for MAP (Medical Assistance Programs) International, based in Georgia, and spends as much time as possible spreading the gospel message as well as distributing medical assistance to developing countries. “For me, joining the MAP family feels like ‘coming home,'” he says. “It’s a culmination of my personal and professional life experiences.”
A vial of polio vaccine costing sixty cents could have prevented Steve from contracting the disease.
Steve’s favorite Bible verse is Ephesians 2:10: “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them” (nas). He sees God’s hand bringing all the elements of his life together perfectly for His purpose.
“I believe God has called me to be the voice of millions of children who desperately need life-changing medicines,” Steve says. “He has given me these experiences, even polio, to prepare me to be used by Him. I’m not bit

Moral Questions Of The Bible
$14.99Add to cartAre all the moral commands of the Bible meant to be obeyed exactly for all time, or are there some that need to be adapted for our modern world?
Scripture contains lots of guidance on ethical issues, including statements about polygamy, slavery, divorce, sex, and other things that sound strange to our modern ears. Even Christians, who believe the Bible is God’s word, disagree on whether women should wear head coverings, whether Christians can ever lie, whether women should preach, and whether Christians should drink alcohol. How can we resolve these issues and figure out how to apply the Bible to our lives?
David Instone-Brewer helps answer this question by showing how the Bible’s moral commands were understood in their ancient cultural context. The more we understand what God and the biblical authors intended to communicate to the original audience, the better we will be able to make sense of how to apply those commands today.
In brief chapters that address a wide variety of moral issues, Instone-Brewer equips Bible readers with a paradigm they can use to discern matters for themselves: Is a biblical command timeless or time-bound? If the command itself is time-bound, what is the timeless purpose behind it? And how do we remain faithful to the Bible’s commands today even when handling subjects the Bible does not address?
The Scripture in Context series is driven by the conviction that there is nothing as exciting, direct, provocative, and spiritually enlightening as the Bible when we read it as it was meant to be read. Each book in the series dives into the ancient cultural context behind Bible passages, examining the effect this context had on what the Bible writers were saying and how we should understand their words today. When we read the Bible in light of its context, it is anything but boring. Instead, God’s word can speak to us as powerfully as it did to those who first read it.
Chapters are short and informal, so it’s easy to read one chapter at a time or the whole book straight through.
